Career & Experience:
Dr. Santiago, Head of Project & Infrastructure Finance at Allied Green Ammonia, brings over 15 years of international experience in credit insurance, infrastructure, and project finance. With more than 13 years as the Head of Project & Infrastructure Finance for a Project Development Company in the UAE, he has a proven track record in executing transactions from project evaluation to documentation.
His expertise spans project finance models such as BOT, DBFO, and PPP, as well as conventional contracts like D&B and EPC for large-scale projects. Dr. Santiago is also a thought leader in project finance modeling, contributing to the community through guides and significant model builds.
He excels in complex, clean, and green project financing, feasibility studies, due diligence, technology evaluations, and project management. Dr. Santiago’s extensive 25+ year career includes serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership teams, delivering sustainable growth strategies, measuring performance, and implementing corporate sustainability initiatives.
Selected Achievements:
- Developed and implemented vital company policies, procedures, and manuals, including Corporate Governance, Business Control Framework, Finance and Accounting Manual, and Corporate HSE, OEMS, ESMP Frameworks.
- Represented the organization in financing discussions with ECAs in Europe, including Euler Hermes, UKEF, CESCE, EKF, and EDC for clean and green energy projects in the GCC.
- Acted as a focal point with project counterparties and stakeholders, including financial advisors (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG), legal advisors (Arendt, Allen & Overy, Norton Rose Fulbright), and technical advisors (DNV GL, BECHTEL, ThyssenKrupp).
Qualifications & Recognition:
Dr. Santiago holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in Business Management from the Philippine Christian University, graduating with distinctions. He has attended various training programs, including the Strategic CFO Program at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in 2024. He is currently completing his second Ph.D. as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Strategic Management and Leadership.
